Hosts
This page outlines the commitment and responsibilities for Rotarians who are willing to open their homes to fellow Rotarians from New Zealand around the world who are here to enjoy the delights of the world cup late in 2011.
Many of you will have heard about the home hosting programme through your clubs and other district dialogue. However to briefly recap the programme is designed for New Zealand Rotarians to open their homes to accommodate visiting Rotarians who are here to watch their teams follow the rugby late in 2011. Without hosts the programme cannot work.
Being a host will be a great way for you to participate in the whole aura of the tournament which will engross New Zealand for much of 2011. Even if you are not going to games yourself what better way to be vitally involved than extending your generosity as both a New Zealander and a Rotarian. You will extend your fellowship around the world while at the same time making a valuable contribution to the Polio Plus campaign.
To be a host you need to have a spare bed or two which you can make available during the time of the tournament. While you do not have to be available for the whole duration of the tournament we would envisage that you will be able to host for much of the time when matches are in your city.
You will be required to host visitors on a bed and breakfast basis. We expect that most visitors will be couples so would expect at a minimum you can provide a separate bedroom with a double bed. Many hosts will have greater bedding capacity. $NZ50 per night/per couple of the payment by visitors will be provided to you to help defray some of the costs.
You will not be required to arrange tickets for matches or to necessarily provide transport to games although most who have been involved so far have indicated that while host obligations are on a bed and breakfast basis only the New Zealand and Rotarian spirit will mean hosts will go a lot further to ensure that all visitors have a memorable stay and that many new and lasting friendships will be created.
Have a read through the web site and if being a host is for you then you will need to register. Once registered you will be sent a confirmation of your registration.
The allocation of visitors to your home will be managed in your city by a local coordinator who closer to the commencement of the tournament will match you with visitors. At this time you will be responsible for contacting your visitors to provide directions and items of local interest to ensure their stay is an occasion of a lifetime.
We look forward to you being a part of this event.
