I am delighted that my fellow Rotarians in New Zealand are inviting rugby-loving Rotarians from around the world into their homes during the rugby world cup in 2011.
The rugby world cup in New Zealand will be one of the greatest sporting events of the decade. If you take the opportunity to come to New Zealand and enjoy the hospitality of local Rotarians, you will not be disappointed.
I am also sure that the sharing of Rotary project ideas and the connections made will foster the ongoing benefits of international friendship and opportunities for Rotary service into the future.
Wellington has an exceptional record in hosting big events. Whether it is a world premiere of Lord of the Rings, the New Zealand International Arts Festival, Volvo Ocean Race or the International Rugby Sevens, the whole city turns out to enjoy the event.
The world cup will be no different. Come and enjoy it and make some new Rotarian friends. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can in October 2011.
